Large mural painting,
Oslo
Large mural which I painted at Schous Plass in Grünerløkka district, a central area in Oslo. The place has for long been important part of the outdoor art scene, were food companies have promoted their brands for many years through large, colorful mural paintings.
A leading painting company based in Oslo requested me to paint the image – a idyllic picnic scene. The image is nostalgic, reminding of vintage advertising art, but with details connecting to modern times. The original illustration was done long before I was involved in this project. I did the painting in the large format, transforming the original digital look into a painterly one, with several improvements on colors and design. Silicate mineral paints were used as medium, and was the safest choice for outdoor use in Scandinavian climate.
This is the largest and most demanding work I was commissioned to do so far, considering the size and details the image involved, and a tight deadline of few weeks to complete it
Hard weather conditions, other deadlines and incidents strongly delayed the progress, and lost time was compensated with very long working days and night work; but the mural was finally completed, short time before the inauguration.
This project provided me with very valuable experience, which I will benefit immensely from, in future works.
